Agenda

Performative Walk a Roma

Artist and composer Rahel Kraft and writer and curator Sibylle Ciarloni observe the fragile balance in the ecotone, the overlapping space of different vegetation zones. They explore this living, moving non-state as a possible space of meaning for the future, embracing simultaneity and hybridity. Ecotone Conversation Piece is their nomadic collaborative art and research project initiated in 2023. It invites thinkers, artists, activists, researchers, and the community to contribute, seeking perspectives and thoughts that use the ecotone metaphor as a starting point for exchanging experiences.

In Rome, the artists explore the Tiber’s transitional habitat. After two short residencies at IUNO @iunoiunoiuno between November 2024 and May 2025, they have now created a 120-minute performative walk.

How can humans learn from plant societies? We must connect different life realities and create constructive dialogue between humans and non-humans, as dialogue is the opposite of war. Plants are intelligent beings without human mindsets. I am sure we can learn from them.

Our working group creates space for dialogue by observing the plant societies in San Costanzo (PU) Italy. We invite local people and artists from various disciplines to explore dialogue practices with us, try them out, and ultimately make them accessible through documentation on the web and in print.
